This is me.
I’m afraid to show it to you but I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t.
In 1983, I competed in the International Juggler’s Association, Junior Competition.
I was 15 and awkward, a sophomore in high school.
I didn’t have a lot of friends but I had a passion. That summer I practiced three hours a day in my front yard, in the Texas heat, to prepare.
I came in fourth and soon after dropped juggling. I picked up a bass guitar and from that, a girlfriend.
Part of me wants to forget these four minutes happened. That I, as one friend put it, “did high school wrong.”
But this is me, onstage and fearless.
A rare occasion indeed.
